Default The Galileo issue in the 21st century

I often encounter hopelessly inept views on the matter where predictive astronomy which worked so well with geocentric views and the later RA/Dec reckoning as calendar based frameworks could not have been used to prove the motions of the Earth.

It would take something of an extraordinary coincidence to come across an individual who is open enough to untangle the various strands at several different levels and set about clearing up the astronomical narrative notwithstanding that most of the renowned astronomers involved wouldn't have the perspectives available today.

Intelligent people are many and of that I have no doubt however, aside from unfamiliarity with the issues, it takes a spirited person where information lights up with relevance as the journey through these things progresses and often in an atmosphere that is so hostile that it takes persistence alone not to be drawn into a quagmire of mediocre people thinking only of their lifestyles and trying desperately to sound different from each other.

The opening salvo ,at least where it all went wrong was whether the calendar based system of reckoning could be used to prove the Earth's daily and orbital motions. The short answer is that it can't.

There is zero point trying to debate any issue with Gerald. He doesn't answer questions, cannot change his views and it seems very unlikely he even reads what other people write!
