Define "noisy"?

Anything running on a digital control stepper motor is going to
"tick" at a rate dependent upon the needed slewing.
The scopes _do not_ use a stepper motor...
They use DC servo motors.
Yes, they are 'noisy', if you slew rapidly. Think in terms of motors like
Scalextric motors, and the sort of noises they produce. They are noisier
than the Celestron units in general (though the cheaper Celestron drives
on things like the CG5, give them a good 'run for their money' on this).
However if you reduce the maximum slew rate, the noise becomes much more
acceptable. On the Celesron units, there was a software bug a while ago,
which made them produce an odd noise when tracking, but this has now been
fixed.
