Mark Wade doesn't do it for money.


Correct. Therefore, he must be doing something else for his money. And I
imagine that something else might be demanding more of his time than he
can spare for his website.

obligations, always take priority over hobbies.

I don't think it's going defunct; he only updates it once or twice a
year for the past couple of years, and generally around spring or early
summer.
