LAW 7072 The Law of Work in the New Economy
Teacher: Associate Professor Rosemary Owens Image: http://img81.imageshack.us/my.php?image=rosemaryto9.jpg Rosemary Owens embarked on a new career when she joined the Law School at the University of Adelaide in 1987. After her initial appointment as a tutor in 1987, she became a lecturer in 1989, and was then promoted to a senior lectureship in 1995, and in 2005 she became a Reader in Law. Since commencing work in the Law School at the University of Adelaide Rosemary has taught in a wide range of subjects including Labour and Industrial Relations Law, Globalisation & the Legal Regulation of Work , Australian Constitutional Law, Legal Research and Writing, Feminist Legal Theory, Administrative Law, and Contract Law. She is particularly committed to encouraging research skills in her undergraduate students and has been the co-ordinator of the Honours program. Rosemary Owens' research work focuses primarily on the Law of Work (including employment, labour and anti-discrimination law), but she also has strong interests in public law especially constitutional law. Course Description The course examines the impact of deregulation and new technology in the workforce focussing on issues such as non-standard labour relations, the impact of restructuring of business on employment and labour relations, privacy in the workplace and the use of new technology. Teaching Methodology Taught over the course of the semester. |
