They've been wrong like this quite a lot. Just about every prediction
created by older models has proven to be too conservative in terms of
the degree of change as better models have developed.

I have a perfect test for AGW denialists.
I'm calling it Canute's Test.
No charge for registered participants.
Bring your own thrones and leg irons.
Suntan oil should be biodegradable in saline solutions.

I've been to a couple gatherings of these people. Anyone who thinks it's about CO2 and C02 alone is nuts.

Who thinks that? While CO2 is the major factor, there are other human
produced gases that are significant, and there are secondary effects
of human caused warming that amplify the impact.

Everything is used as a level to extract money from the West. And China, the largest producer of C02 is conveniently always left out of the discussion.

China is a 3rd world country still badly in need of massive development.
It still has vast numbers of unskilled poor who must be kept on board.
Otherwise there is a very real risk that the balance of power will shift.
Those who reward themselves so lavishly must bring at least the illusion of mutual prosperity.

The Chinese had cheap coal to lift themselves by their own industrious bootstraps.
Their industrial development copied many of the same mistakes made by The US and Europe a century or more ago.
But who can blame them?
They too had the problem of a huge, unwanted, peasant-agriculture population. Totally unready for the huge changes needed to bring an industrial revolution.

Many country's talking heads extol renewables but make no visible improvements themselves.
They still fail to see where the jobs will come from with a green revolution.

However one may resent the Chinese they have probably saved the bacon of many "Western" governments.
Simply by allowing billions of quite ordinary people to reward themselves with affordable technology and goods.
Instead of demanding quality leadership, to match the hugely demanding tasks ahead, the people simply lost themselves in their own, toxic toy box.

Our leaders should learn one, very simple, message:
Better to maintain the illusion of drooling idiocy.
Than to tweet and voluntarily confirm it.

China is not the largest per capita producer. And no country is as
aggressive as China in developing a non-fossil energy economy. Which
is likely to just extend its economic domination of the world. We
should be as smart as they are.
