Another favorite.
NGC 7479 Pegasus Penryn, California September/October 2007 FS-128G (ag, ST-4) ST-2000XM LRGB 5 minutes subs. NGC 7479 is a Seyfert galaxy undergoing starburst activity in the nucleus and the outer arms (Kohno, 2007 ). Polarization studies of this galaxy indicate it recently underwent a minor merger and that it is unique in the radio continuum with arms opening in an opposite direction to the optical arms (Laine, 2005). It is a type SBb-c galaxy with a surface brightness of mag. 13. Extinction due to galactic dust is 0.3847 mag. Distance is 90 to 100 million light years. |

It's distorted enough to support the merger idea. There's nothing around it to have interacted with it. It's a pretty lonely galaxy. The Seyfert and starburst classes would also say it ate something. Too bad we can't get time lapse movies of these guys! Rick -- Correct domain name is arvig and it is net not com. Prefix is correct. Third character is a zero rather than a capital "Oh". |

Glen,
one of my favourites too. Not an easy object to get enough signal for the faint parts as you did. Stefan "Glen Youman" schrieb im Newsbeitrag ... Another favorite.
