Default Kurs question

Watching a soyuz dock to the station...

With 3 docking ports on the russian segment, how does an approaching
Kurs equippe vehicle know which port is to be used ?

Does someone on the station activate one port so that the arriving
vehicle only sees one active port and moves to it ?

Or is Kurs aware of the geometry of the station, and once it has a
picture of the station, it can calculate where the dociking port it has
been proghrammed to goto for that station is, after which, once it hs
visually aligned to the port, it can use radar or whatever technology
Kurs uses to do the precision approach ?

Also, how difficult would it be to outfit the USA segment with a Kurs
capable russian docking port ? Does it need cable connections to the
russian segment ?

My educated guess is that only one Kurs receiver is activated on the
ISS during these operations, on the docking port that is designated
for use.

Good morning or good evening depending upon your location. I want to ask you the most important question of your life. Your joy or sorrow for all eternity depends upon your answer. The question is: Are you saved? It is not a question of how good OM History 0 April 22nd 05 08:37 AM
