ASTRO: Perseid Caught in Dipper
A clear sky to brighten one's hopes and a full moon to brighten the sky.
All I wanted was a meteor passing the Dipper and I saw a beauty-it happened in the one second between some early exposures. I hooked up my intervalometer and snoozed for a couple of hours. 360 or so exposures checked at home and I did get this (and one other near the pole). Can't get any closer. Think what a dark sky would have done. T2i with kit 18-55 II lens, focussed with live view on Mizar-Alcor, 10 seconds. And a fair bit of processing to get it out of the murk, which could probably be done far better by an expert. Not so far away as the average shot here but I hope OnT. jim Calgary |

Jim,
you caught a bright one in this shot. And it being in what is probably the best known constellation gives it a special touch... Stefan "jim wilson" schrieb im Newsbeitrag ...
