Burnt DOESN'T CARE About the RCS
Ya, ya, sure. Does posting the link prove you're an ethical
aerospace engineer? Remember BBR, you *don't care* about the RCS firings during the 51-L ascent. -- John Thomas Maxson, Retired Engineer (Aerospace) Author, The Betrayal of Mission 51-L (www.mission51l.com) Jon Berndt wrote in message ... He sure posts a lot for someone who does not know a lot or care a lot about RCS. Jorge politely corrects him about the most basic use of first stage RCS and Jon goes on. Roger read your book but forgot what you wrote about Gary Coultas. Weird. -- Daniel Mount Charleston, not Charleston, SC |

I am in agreement with Jorge about RCS usage first stage. Would you care to enlighten me on when an abort was declared by the crew? If I am not mistaken, the crew cabin had already departed the fuselage when the engines just beginning to shut down - but regardless, both of our statements stand. Jon |

I am in agreement with Jorge about RCS usage first stage. Of course you agree. He embarrassed you and he is your friend, and he is on your *team*. Would you care to enlighten me on when an abort was declared by the crew? No. Enlightening you is painful. If I am not mistaken, the crew cabin had already departed the fuselage when the engines just beginning to shut down... Yes, Jon you are mistaken about when the SSMEs cavitated. - but regardless, both of our statements stand. Are you talking about the RCS explosion thing standing? I thought that one fell over like a straw man;-) Are you talking about the RCS operating in first stage only as declared by Jorge standing? Even here you contradict yourself talking about inadvertant, uncommanded, self correcting software firing the RCS. All with no proof and a bunch of "IIRC". It's nonsense. Are you talking about agreeing on when the SSMEs shutdown? What? -- Daniel Mount Charleston, not Charleston, SC |

Just now. Looks really neat in flight... Art Deco meets B-29 meets X-1. I hope they make some videos of the flight available for download. For that matter, I wish they'd offer bigger pictures, my desktop is 1280x960. They could take a cue from NASA in that regard, though they've got the right idea. |

"Charleston" wrote:
Are you talking about the RCS operating in first stage only as declared by Jorge standing? Yes. RCS jets are not commanded in a nominal first stage. They can be in an abort situation. However, there was no opportunity for an abort in 51L, as you know. Even here you contradict yourself talking about inadvertant, uncommanded, self correcting software firing the RCS. All with no proof and a bunch of "IIRC". It's nonsense. I added the "IIRC" because it was something I read recently and I can't quote it verbatim. It was contained in an article on the RCS that was in a two volume set - something like the "Space Shuttle Conference ...". It was from the early '80's. I'll probably have these posted before you post your mystery documents. Jon |

If they need nose art, they ought to see if they can get a license from WB to use "Duck Dogers in the 24th-and-a-Half Century." If they can't get a license they ought to do it anyway. |
