Default Looking for a honest opinion on TMB 152

Hi,

Even though it seems that many have been sold, I have only been able
to find comments from 3 or 4 people that are inconditionals of TMB
(they really seem very satisfied).

I have no doubts about the mechanics of these scopes since they seem
equal or better than the very best (aren't they ?). But I would like
to know more about the optics. Maybe someone with actual experience
that has owned one of these can drop some line for me please.

As an owner of the aforementioned scope, I can tell you that the optics are
superb. This is a scope that I hope to have for a LONG time. I have seen
incredible detail in both Saturn and Jupiter before dark at a couple of recent
events. Others in the club have made some very positive comments regarding the
scope, both optically and mechanically. I have the new version with the 3.5"
Feathertouch, and the lighter (?) tube. I have not quite figured out what is
lighter, but maybe that was refering to just a few pounds. My scope is heavy.
It is built like a Sherman Tank. Some things you just have to live with!
In short, I love the scopes' performance.
For about a year and a half, I had a 4" (100mm f/8) TMB a while back. The
performance of that scope was superb as well. It was also heavy for its' size,
but again, some things you live with. The 4" scope had the TMB focuser with
nice large knobs that made critical focus a breeze. The Feathertouch on this
one has ruined me. I want a Feathertouch on my StarMaster now!
Any further questions, drop a line.
