Default Canada to have astronaut as head of state !

While the Queen is the head of state on paper, the governor general is
the effective head of state for Canada. So sometime between now and
Septembler, the government will formally make her our Governor General,
giving Canada a very science minded head of state with experience in space.

But heads of state have no power.
