I already have a new computer, thanks to a generous anonymous benefactor. Just have to get off my lazy ass and start using it.

A nice 74F here in Gresham right now as of 12:30 PM PDT. A dry east wind blowing leaves around the streets. Expected high a comfortable 77F.

Was able to tap into the neighboring Big Apple Bar's Wi-Fi from my apartment with my laptop this morning! Putting it right over by the glass French door gave good enough reception. But I have to give careful thought to the security and privacy options to protect my anomynity. Also cover the camera with a piece of tape! I want to avoid Windows 10.

But I like coming to the library nevertheless. I read books here too. But it will be nice to have more time online.

In summer it is nice though, and stays a little cooler than downtown Portland.

Today I am back over in the Cedar Mills Library, since I don't have my Multnomah County library card yet. After lunch with Kim downtown, I came up here. It is currently 51F here with a slight sprinkling of rain starting. Should be dry again in a couple day.

A few days ago I walked over to the Mt. Hood Community College campus. I spent 2 years in school there. Much has changed, but old memories still remain.

At first I felt a little lost, but then I came upon a spot I clearly remembered. It was where I had gone out there and watched a speech by then President Jimmy Carter in the late 70's. He was the first President I had seen in person! A helicopter brought him in, and Iranian students hiding their faces were demonstrating against the Shaw of Iran.

I finally found the lake that they made by damming up the local creek. I once drove a car across that dam! But if I were to try it now, I would run into a fence. I now must give up any hope of wetting a line in that trout stocked pond, as fishing is now limited to those under 17. Well, that's how I always thought it should be.

I found the basketball court with the dome shaped roof. It is a paraboloid shaped roof which gives an interesting echoic effect at its center. They have wisely covered much of the ceiling with acoustic tile.

There used to be tables and chairs on the east side where students could sit. But now it's all basketball floor. That's were I used to sit and talk with Greta and Susan in those pleasant times.

I went to the corner of Kane Dr. and Stark St. to look for the stone mile post marker for mile 14 from Portland. It was there back in 1969 when I checked. This were set down every mile along Stark about 150 years ago. Stark led to the Stark St. Ferry, which was the only way to cross the Willamette River back then, before they built the bridges in Portland. The Community College has put up a sign at that corner and surrounded it with rocks and other landscaping. But no sign of the historic mile stone. You would think that the administrators of a college of all people would have some respect for history!

Sandy's back? I thought she had flown away. I need a better income stream before I can afford a car.

Now up to 80F here on this lovely fall day.

Sunny and 82F now here in Gresham as of 4:00 PM PDT. East wind at 13 mph. Humidity only 25%. Very typical fall day here. Lots of leaves swirling.

Went downtown Porland today to the clinic and got some pills. Walked up to Powell's famous bookstore and bought a book.

Talk about town is how everybodies rent is getting jacked up, and more people are having to move out because their pension or wages cannot cover the rent anymore. Some neighborhoods have had as much as 50% rent increases this year. I see the empty apartment next to me is up for rent at a 15% increase over what I pay now. I feel it coming! A dirty word for landlords, "rent control" is being discussed!

AA Sandy and I will split the rent. You and Kim should thin k about it.I think with minimum wage at $15 the GOPers will find ways to take it away. Those that work for Walmart, and McDonald say that is what is taking place.USA now is 100% greed. Its a shame this greed has families living in cars. TreBert

Bert, here in Portland it is so bad that the Portland City Council is considering decaring a homeless state of emergency and providing emergency shelters. It is really bad. I would let Kim move in, but she has no money, so I would still have to pay all the rent. She could help out if she applied for foodstamps, but she is hard to convince to do anything. Maybe she is too proud.

A nice 76F here in Gresham this afternood as of 5:30 PM PDT. Light breeze from the southwest, but shifing from the east again later tonight.

Went across town to my locker again today. Brought back the treasure trove of my poetry and other early writings.

I give Kim money. She has friends working at Jack-in-the-Box who are letting here stay there all night. But those situations can change quickly. It is not safe. I wish I had your way with women.
