Default Cassini probe sees plastic ingredient on Titan moon

BBC News - Cassini probe sees plastic ingredient on Titan moon
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-24348667

"The Cassini probe has detected propene, or propylene, on Saturn's moon
Titan.

On Earth, this molecule, which comprises three carbon atoms and six
hydrogen atoms, is a constituent of many plastics.

It is the first definitive detection of the plastic ingredient on any
moon or planet, other than our home world, says the US space agency (Nasa)."

So where are the manufacturing plants that turn a simple molecule into
plastic? They should be big enough to see.

Been the basis of some nice science fiction.

That's a thermoplastic, so NASA could send some
3D printers there and make mountains of plastic
figurines and other tchotchkas before the first
settlers arrive.
