Default Astro equipment pricing?

Does anyone know of a book or web site that lists the approximate value for
various astro equipment? I have tried searching Astromart for prices based
on past sales, but it is tedious. I decided to sell all of my astro
equipment because my interests have moved on and I almost never set up the
telescope anymore. Seems pointless to hang on to all of it when I'm not
using it and am not likely to in the future.

Any pointers would be appreciated. Thanks.

I'm afraid astromart is the best. There was someone trying to develop an
astro "Bluebook a while back. IIRC, you had to subscribe to get the prices.
However, where were they getting their prices? At astromart, you are looking
at actual transactions.

If you want to get the most out of your equipment, I'd strongly consider
Ebay instead of Astromart (although the latter is free). Ebay generally
will bring higher values whereas on Astromart you'll get a lot of folks who
say they're interested and you never hear from them again. Not knocking
them (Astromart) as it's a great resource, but that's the way most people
seem to operate there.

I've had success selling on both, AM or Ebay. But ebay has a larger
exposure to buyers world wide than AM. Also, on ebay one can protect
it's investment by setting a reserve price, also bidding is binding,
pricing is more flexible.
Although AM has auction style selling, but ebay has millions people
watching it any time vs. AM may have only 1000.

Hi Keith, You should just post an itemized list here, and let some of
the folks here comment on their value. Just because you're posting what
you're considering for sale here doesn't necessarily mean you'll have to
agree with these values, or be in any way obligated to sell these items
at said price, but it should give you some basic ideas. Theres enoguh
knowledgeable people here to give you a very accurate rundown on the
value of what you have, and have no reson to be dishonest about thier
opinions.

Without knowing what you have, no one can give any reasonable or
accurate values to these items.

I'll give a couple here to show you:
A 5 year old $5,000 SCT+mount which is mint may only be worth a fraction
of its new cost (lets say $2900-$3200)

An 8-9 year old Astro-Physics 7" refractor which cost $5,000 new might
now be worth close to $20,000.

Once you figure a fairly accurate value to each item you wish to sell
(or the whole package) you can always place it for sale on Astromart
with a slightly higher asking price, and then state OBO (Or Best Offer)

I myself would say that "most" people on Astromart do NOT say they're
going to buy something, and then later decide to jerk you around, and
not buy. Sure, there's the occasional case I'm sure, but using
Astromart for numerous years, I have never had this personally happen to
me. A-Mart is not Ebay though, as a buyer is NOT under any legal
commitment to buy. Mark

The problem at Astromart is you're only seeing the asking price, you
have no idea if it was bargained down or not.

I thought of selling my Nexstar11GPS, and went to astromart to see
what I should ask for it. I saw prices from ~$2000 to $2800. I didn't
know what to ask, but decided not to sell yet anyway.
