Default Lynds' Catalogue of Dark Nebulae (LDN 497)

Lynds' Catalogue of Dark Nebulae (LDN 497)

LDN 497 in Scutum

Lynds' Catalogue of Dark Nebulae (LDN 497) shows up well in these two
images. Of almost equal interest are the stars that are very bright in
the infra-red but almost invisible in V (green) band. Presumably these
stars must be very cool red giants.

I am always impressed by how many stars there are in the Scutum Star
Clouds!
