#11 biology extinction ; new monograph-book: "Extinction of Homo sapiens from a science viewpoint"
Biological Extinction
(i) biological extinction due to loss of overall species diversity (ii) biological extinction due to fundamental weakness in human DNA which can only be fixed by a DNA that is beyond human DNA (iii) biological extinction due to exponential increase in viral and microbial plagues (iv) biological extinction due to human cloning of a new species superior to Homo sapiens (v) biological extinction due to Homo sapiens becoming addicted to economic self gain rather than preservation of the entire species which is a form of species Specialization such as the fig wasp and the fig tree dependency. An example of this is Global Warming. And sometimes this species "Specialization" is obvious and apparent such as Global Warming but other times it could be hidden and irreversible and not apparent until too late. An example of this is the world's topsoil, should it end up in the oceans and where we lose so many plant species on land that both animal and plant kingdom are on the verge of extinction. And where Topsoil erosion intertwine with Global Warming as in the case of where people want to make ethanol so badly that they accelerate topsoil erosion. This chapter is very much more difficult than the other chapters, because of so much interrelationships and variables, although species extinction is most frequently due to competition between species. So that humanity population on the rise would seem to say we are well off and that signal would suggest all is well. But as I said previously, as our population rises and extincts other plants and animals, that at some point, this loss of diversity would threaten the human species itself. And that the rise of insects and microbes to eat on humanity since most other animals are extincted would bring the competition between Homo sapiens and insects and microbes as a big fight. So is humanity able to compute at what population range makes humanity safe from extinction due to loss of species diversity. Is it at a human population of say 2 billion and would be be prepared to shrink in population size to 2 million. Or are we incapable of ever controlling human population and that we will always overpopulate and have wars or famine or disease be the only trimming of human overpopulation. And eventually we extinct so many species that we face extinction ourselves. Now there maybe a forced extinction of Homo sapiens due to the DNA. Wherein some future time we find the world environment not favorable to us because of our genome and where a clone of humanity to fix this DNA would be a new species for which we cannot reproduce. So in a sense, we clone a new species that is trans-human in order to cope with this future environment and if we do not clone this new species, well, humanity goes extinct. A possible scenario here would be that of a loss of the ozone layer for instance and a loss of Earth's magnetic field and where Solar Rays penetrate to the surface and where it would be deadly to spend much time out in the Sunlight. In such an environment, cloning for a human body to withstand that radiation maybe the best option. Another example of this DNA weakness would be if cancer increases so badly in the future due to the dirty environment and loss of clean air and oxygen content of air, that disease rates increase so much that few babies are born normal and most people have a diseased life. We see this today in obesity and diabetes and autism and alzheimer and cancer and heartattacks. Imagine what the world looks like when there are 15 billion humans instead of 6 billion. It may so happen that a normal person is rare and that most people are diseased the moment they are borne. In such a world, it may come to pass that most people opt for a cloning of those that are normal with a hybrid mix of genes that are an improvement over the old human genome. So it is not a question of how long can Homo sapiens last in the future, but how quickly Homo sapiens becomes disgusted with our own genetic code and does something to change and fix its shortcomings. And in so doing go beyond Homo sapiens and thus extinction of the old genome. If I were asked for a gut opinion of how likely Humanity will become extinct due to biological processes, I would say it is about a 75 to 25 chance of going extinct. For just today I heard the Pope was visiting South America and telling them to keep on filling up the world with new babies (and in my opinion, the Pope ought to be put in jail and serve jail time for preaching to a world that is overpopulated in humans to have more babies), and that politicians here in the USA are still spouting that Global Warming is not a problem. Our world does not pay proper attention to science and that the majority of humanity is nonscience. So in the future, when it is critical that the human species pay attention to science over an issue that could extinct us, well, because the majority of people believe in some nonsense rather than the science. I do like this chapter because it is rather straightforward. We already know alot about Global Warming and how that can threaten our extinction. If we just blithely did nothing about Global Warming and continued to fill the air with carbon compounds from fossil fuels and increased human population from 6 billion on upwards to 15 billion, I think we could easily enter a crisis period of possible extinction, chiefly due to loss of other species. Just a few days ago I read a report about the loss of honeybees that go to pollinate so much of the food we eat. There is no telling if Global Warming left unchecked that the extinction of so many plant and animal species will threaten our own existence. But I want to talk about some other geology issues that could easily extinct our species and which have little to no public awareness. Two subchapters on Topsoil Erosion and Shifting Geomagnetism. Subchapter : Topsoil Erosion This topic is rarely given public awareness. But some day in the future we will find our continents mostly barren of topsoil and where most of it is underwater in the oceans. So what would happen tomorrow if all the world's topsoil were lifted up and dumped into the oceans? There would be alot of plant life extinctions, perhaps nearly all plants who require soil. I once did an experiment where I dug up some clay that was 6 feet down and put it into pots and to see if any wind borne plant seed would sprout in that clay. There was no grass but there were a few broadleaf weeds. So, I wonder, if all the world's topsoil were dumped in the ocean, how much plant life could live and survive on what remains? I suspect this could trigger a extinction of humanity if we ever find all our topsoil in the oceans. Subchapter : Shift in the Geomagnetism of Earth There was a brilliant PBS show on this topic telling us that at some moments in geological time the geomagnetism shifts and thus allowing for deadly Solar Rays to penetrate. Astronomers love to point to the Moon or Mars and say that they cannot support life because they have no magnetic field to shield them from the deadly Solar Rays. Shifts have occured in past geological times. So that if for some reason this geomagnetic field were to shut down, well, that is a serious threat to humanity and could lead to extinction. But what about several of these dynamics working simultaneously? What about Global Warming working with Topsoil Erosion. We have a case of that at the moment when we think about hyperfarming for corn to produce ethanol. Where we accelerate topsoil erosion. I do not have exact figures but it is said that the world loses about x number of hectares of topsoil per day that ends up in the oceans. In hyperfarming the number may be 10X increased. So that in the future it is easy to see a world that has the dual problem of Global Warming and the retrieval of Topsoil that ends up in the oceans. My answer to both Global Warming and Topsoil is that the planet needs to have human population in the range of 1 to 2 billion where both problems are kept under check. But to have 15 billion humans, both problems run amok and could lead to a extinction of humanity. Now I doubt there is a link between Global Warming and Geomagnetism Shift. However, some years back I did pursue the idea that lightening bolt strikes affect the internal core of Earth and its dynamo. So that if Global Warming increases, then also Lightening Flashes increase as the weather becomes that much more filled with energy. So maybe as Global Warming increases, then the changes of Geomagnetic Shift increases for the worst. I tried doing a experiment of running electrostatic pulses into a running motor but that experiment was inconclusive because I did not want to ruin the motor. My guess is that the pulses will eventually destroy the motor windings of its lacquer coating. Whether there is an analogous windings in the Earth's core and that lightening flashes change the dynamo of the core, is unknown to me at this moment.
