Default Earth's magnetic field may have been weaker billions of years ago

Earth's weak magnetic field helped Sun to steal water from planet's
early atmosphere - Oneindia News
"Scientists have discovered that the Earth's magnetic field 3.5 billion
years ago was only half as strong as it is today, and that this
weakness, coupled with a strong wind of energetic particles from the
young Sun, likely stripped water from the early Earth's atmosphere."

Then why are we still in the cycle of losing our protective
geomagnetic force and its magnetosphere at roughly 0.1%/year?

What is increased, can decrease again.

Because that's just something you made up.

Although that's possibly true, but the only person who believes that the
magnetic field is decreasing right now is Brad.

So does most of the scientific community.

.... about 5% every 100 years.

But nothing monotonic about the field strength...

Oh well, then I guess I owe Brad an apology, usually his facts and
figures are pulled out of thin air.

In other words, either way you don't care.

My goodness, are we having another bad day. week, month, year on
Usenet?

http://www.spacedaily.com/reports/Ge..._Fail_999.html
"In the recent 20 years, the planet's magnetic field intensity has
decreased by 1.7%, and in South Atlantic by 10%. In the last two
hundred years, the Earth's magnetic field has seen a 10% decrease in
intensity."

That's the 20 year average of 0.085%/yr. 2010 could easily be 0.1%
loss.
