Thick clouds and TV producers
"Laury" wrote in message ... Tonight's BBC 6 pm news (national) did a short piece on Mars. It showed a sequence moving from day to night, with Mars high in the sky, and then to the setting of Mars. In this sequence, Mars rose on the right and set on the left. Pretty fundamental blunder, unless they thought their only viewers were down-under! Hooray for TV's science coverage! Last night's ITV coverage (on Ch 4) used video from Australia, where the Mars seen through the telescope was pretty obviously out of focus. I also saw a brief sequence that showed Mars more like what you see, a little orange-pink blur with a white polar cap and lots of seeing wobble, but at least it was focussed. -- Mike Dworetsky (Remove "pants" spamblock to send e-mail) |
