OK here we go.

Book Review of:

"Alpha and Omega: The Search for the Beginning and the End of the
Universe" by Charles Seife.

This book is a popularisation which certainly does get the message
across. Seife takes you on a roller-coaster ride from cover to cover as
he seamlessly explains the theoretical and experimental basis of the
physics of today .... and of the future. In a succinct, incisive and
insightful volume he elucidates, fully, many of the pillars of modern
science such as the Standard Model, the Big Bang Theory, the cosmic
microwave background radiation and the search for the "lost" part of our
Universe - the dark side. Particularly striking is the way the book
illuminates the reasoning behind theoretical and experimental
developments .... and one sees just how common sense most of the
thinking is. However, this is not all the book contains for we are also
guided through the next few decades of experimental research in
cosmology and particle physics. Things will be very different in the
future.

This book is for the scientist who wants to explain, "what's goin' on?".
(Dozens of physicists, cosmologists and astronomers were consulted.)
But, it is also for the layman who wants to know, "what's goin' on?".

The book is a guide and an index for the 'third revolution' and beyond!

The wrap-around cover is good too ;^)
