Well, I'm seriously thinking of zapping off somewhere soon. Its just
getting full of idiots as well. You post something normal and then you spend
time trying to find where your thread went amongst people pretending to be
other people and rehashed theories that even if true bare now best laid to
rest like many of those who might have known the truth.

| I'm a realtive newbie to this group, as I didn't start reading it until
after
| the Colombia went down. In the first few weeks after that I picked up some
good
| information and was corrected on some misbeliefs I had and to the people
that
| posted that info, I thank you. But in the last few months this group has
turned
| into a sewer. There is still some good info to be found, but for the
average
| layperson as myself it's getting harder and harder to seperate the facts
from
| the garbage.
| Normally I don't support the idea of a moderated newsgroup, but in this
case
| I'm starting to wonder if it wouldn't be a good idea here. If nothing else
it
| would stop the people who are really interested in this subject from
having to
| go through a ton of crap to find the threads that have good information in
| them.
| I don't know who these Maxson's are and really I could care less! If
what
| they are posting is sewage, DON'T respond to it. Ignore it, or kill file
them
| but don't don't get into a flame war with them. Maybe the garbage will
stop,
| maybe it won't, but either way it would cut down the time all of us spend
here
| trying to seperate the good from the crap.

You can do wonders by filtering out cross posts. Not perfect but helps a
whole bunch.

If you don't mind a tangent...

Seeing "Colombia"/Columbia reminds me of a personal story from those
early days of February that I'd like to sha

In the aftermath of the tragedy, I decided to go buy some flowers and
make a family trip to the impromptu memorial by the NASA-JSC front
gate. At the store, I looked over the selection of flowers and
decided that Yellow Roses would be fitting. Columbia's crew, all
military "soldiers", had lived in Texas, and they died over Texas.
Here's a link to the lyrics and tune for "The Yellow Rose of Texas":

http://www.37thtexas.org/html/YelRoselyr.html

There's a yellow rose of Texas
....
No other soldier knows her
No soldier, only me.
She cried so when I left her
It like to broke my heart
And if I ever find her
We never more will part.

....

Oh, my heart is feeling weary
And my head is hanging low
....

(more lyrics from http://www.loebigink.com/family/song_yellowrose.htm)

2: Where the Rio Grande is flowing and starry skies are bright,
She walks along the river in the quiet summer night.
She thinks if I remember we parted long ago;
I promised to come back again and never let her go.

3: Oh, now I'm goin' to find her, my heart is full of woe;
We'll sing the song together we sang so long ago.
....

_______

Later that night we have a solemn ceremony of laying seven of these
roses at the memorial. Now here's the freaky part of the story...

Long after getting home, I see that the clear wrap that had shrouded
the flowers is marked with a tag declaring that the Yellow Roses were
a:

"Product of Colombia"

(I preserved the remaining flowers -less the 7- and have them next to
me right now in the wrap.)
