JimO: "Chinese space advances benefit everyone"

Blay" made the phosphor on my monitor glow in such a way as to indicate that: "Dave" wrote ... "G EddieA95" wrote in message A Syrian-Canadian who was travelling through the US had this happen to him. The Canadian had a stop over in NY and abruptly disappeared... only to reappear in a Syrian jail 48 hours later. Boo-hoo-hoo. Poor helpless child. If he was innocent why would *Syria* --NOT a US ally--lock him up?!!! Your assertion then is that non-US allies can be trusted not to lock up innocents but US allies can't? As it happens locking up people that are inconvenient is one of Syria's specialities. Inconvenient to *them*, certainly. But inconvenient to us? I don't think so... -- simberg.interglobal.org * 310 372-7963 (CA) 307 739-1296 (Jackson Hole) interglobal space lines * 307 733-1715 (Fax) http://www.interglobal.org "Extraordinary launch vehicles require extraordinary markets..." "Dave" made the phosphor on my monitor glow in such a way as to indicate that: Having had to sit still and keep quiet while an INS officer shouted at my wife and tried to get her to say that she was an Afrikaaner racist who had supported apartheid, I have little time for them. NB: this was pre-9-11. If you're trying to get anyone intelligent or knowledgable to support the INS, you'll probably have to seek a different venue... -- simberg.interglobal.org * 310 372-7963 (CA) 307 739-1296 (Jackson Hole) interglobal space lines * 307 733-1715 (Fax) http://www.interglobal.org "Extraordinary launch vehicles require extraordinary markets..." If he was innocent why would *Syria* --NOT a US ally--lock him up?!!! I have assumed that there was a reason why the person in question had left Syria in the first place. There could be many reasons, some perfectly understandable, and some sinister. Given the country in question, surely determining what that reason was first might be sensible? Like the guy who "trained" the 9-11 hijackers. Deported to the US, spends a year and then it all goes away. That's not an acceptable level of jurisprudence. |

The indication above was that if there were problems at the airport then you'd probably done something wrong. That is not my experience of the INS. Weirdly they seem to treat returning US citizens as suspicious. Friends of mine with European work permits try to make sure they don't advertise the fact because it makes for an extra long entry "interview". Our guys just wave us in. |
