Hello everyone, Long time reader but never a poster till tonight,
finally got my canon xti to work. Now if I could just get a mount I
could guide!

M45 taken with w/o 80 Ed/600 unguided (on a stellarvue M6) for 40 sec. @
iso 400 and a little work in iphoto.

Tell what ya think!

Cheers!
John

John,

Your news client posted it in BASE64. Most clients won't decode this
successfully. See if you can set it to encode in UUENCODE or Yenc.
Also, if you can get it to post in plain text only it will get rid of
the HTML in the body and the double posting of your text.

Nice crop of star trails though.

I wondered why I couldn't see it. I thought BASE64 was a very old
method and everyone would see it??

Jesus saw a crowd chasing down a woman to stone her and approached them. "What's going on here, anyway?" he asked.
"This woman was found committing adultery and the law says we should stone her!" one of the crowd responded.
"Wait," yelled Jesus, "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone."
Suddenly, a stone was thrown from out of the sky, and knocked the woman on the side of her head.
"Aw, c'mon, Dad . . . " Jesus cried, "I'm trying to make a point here!"

Came through fine here.

Next step is to get a basic drive like an Orion EQ-2 and thus track the
stars. It should track that small scope for a minute or so allowing you
to register and stack a bunch of images and get a lot fainter stars as
well as some of the nebulosity.

If you use Agent's HTML view, hotkey /, it will toggle the display to
show the HTML text and the image but I think getting John on track
with UUENCODE in his client will serve him better in the long run. I
don't know how much acceptance MIME format encoding has gained in
Usenet but in many groups it would be flamed.

no worries john, image showed nicely on my pc, I think the vast majority of
people has no problem with base64.

I assume base64 = mime then? That would be the email standard,
presumably not taken over to usenet for some reason.

Mine doesn't now that I've put html view on thanks to Jeff. For some
reason it defaulted to off. It doesn't affect non-html posts, so I
don't see the point in turning it off.

Hello Rick,Thanks for the advice,

I'am using a Stellarvue M6 for 2 scopes, still trying to get started
after years of using a 10" dob. Now have a antares 127/1200 that I will
be using for imaging once I get this glide guide system working.

But for earth hour (and hoping the street lights would be out) I
thought I try a series of timed exposures at different times at known
objects and sky setting conditions and of course after better and bigger
results (and few glasses of wine later) I got something worth processing
and to the Mac I went and to the newsgroup after. I've viewed and read
this group the last 4 years.

Thanks guys if all I've done is started a debate about posting codes
than atleast I feel like I have done something with this hobby of
mine,Cheers

John Blair aka Ottovonrotton
