Seems likely that it eventually will. That article says it will sit
in storage for 4 years in Florida, which seems to reflect the backlog
in shuttle flights rather than anything about the cupola suddenly
having gotten more or less useful (if memory serves, it has been at
about this spot in the assembly sequence for a while).

They were waiting for funding. Finally a private grant
arrived along with an offer they couldn't refuse.

When launched it will now be called...... the "Francis Ford Cupola".

The Cupola will be attached to Node 3 and is tied to its fate.

Then why is it that the port side port of Unity (node 1) is labeled "Cupola" ??????

A NASA ISS diagram for the 2004 Budget shows the Cupola on Node 1
(Unity).

It is still on NASA's Consolidated Launch Manifest list (see last
entry):

http://spaceflight.nasa.gov/shuttle/future/index.html

The "Unofficial Shuttle Manifest" shows it is scheduled for launch in
April 2010 on STS-136 on the Discovery.

The same reason the nadir port of Unity is labeled "To Hab". It was
right when the label was applied, but the plans have changed since then.

You are correct sir. At best the Cupola would go on N1 then be transferred
to N3. Rather than insall then move a module which has no scientific basis
(the crew likes it), it was deemed more efficient to install on N3. Hence
the late date. The observant will note the absence of N3 in the assembly
sequence. The cupola will follow this when/if it's done.
