Default DARPA wants spaceships...for what?!

Can someone explain to me why DARPA is funding interstellar space
travel? What does this have to do with their main job, namely the
development of technology that will increase the safety and security of
the United States? I'm a great space buff, but this is a ridiculous
waste of taxpayers money!

I believe this is yet another example of the Federal Government having
too much money to spend on frivolities while the states languish in
poverty.

Perhaps they know something we don'!

It is time for the states (and cities, too) to buckle down and spend
only on necessities, like schools, police, fire, roads, bridges, etc.
and to get everybody off the gravy train. Welfare, public housing and
most other "social services" are frivolities that are part of our
problems today -- too many people on the public dole.

OH BS, this is seed money. Plus they are trying to separate the
project
from the passing numb nuts administrations.

So actually this is a good use. Wars are on the other hand are
an excellent way to **** away real monies and misdirect efforts
to the nonproductive.

Since when is our president or any of his chosen team in charge of
DARPA, or even NASA?

You do realize how screwed we are?

If Hitler was in charge of DARPA, I'm certain you'd be saying the
exact same thing.

Right now, the government needs to get out of the way, so that people
can work for a living if they're willing to do so.

With the country flooded by cheap imports, though, jobs are hard to
find - so people are idle when they could be producing, because we're
prevented from being self-reliant.

If the states were allowed to print wooden nickels, then people in
America could work producing for each other rather than being forced
to compete with China. But the U. S. Treasury prevents that. By all
means dismantle Big Government - but do it in the right order so that
you don't create mass poverty and desperation. Or you won't get
freedom, you'll get rule by a demagogue that promises food to the
masses.

For values of "too many people" that include the defense department.

Yeah, they never should have spent all that money on that 'internet'
thingy...

It was intended as a damage tolerant communications network for the
military. On the face of it, a perfectly reasonable thing for DARPA to
invest in.

Correct, as Zionist Nazis of our DARPA needed a good way of global
communicating and conspiring on the backs and souls of others.

You do realize that nearly 90% of our energy cost goes in one way or
another to support whatever the ZNRs of DARPA and Qinetiq-NA think is
best.
