Default Moon and Mars expeditions vs. RLV development

I do find it interesting that as far as I can tell that SS1 has been
test-flown more often in the past year than any single space shuttle has in a
single year. Corrections?

Also ArmadilloAerospace hope to do test hops in the next few weeks. If past
tests are anything to go by they again will probably launch/test hop more
than once a week.

Both appoaches while not orbital show faster turn-around times than the
shuttle can hope to reach.

Any good RLV must have a shorter turn-around time to keep the cash flow
coming.

How many times has it been "flown" and define flown.

Test drops, powered flights, etc.

One. The Space Shuttle is never test flown. It flies a
nominal mission as best it can, testing the envelope only
occurs during accidents and non-nominal events.
