Default Motions that make life possible

Note; At any time it is possible to take advantage of the graphics and
animations and direct them towards the accustomed empirical ends rather
than towards the line of reasoning of Rheticus as a representative of
the early heliocentrists. It is the difference between an astronomer and
the lowly condition today that takes the same name.

The first animation represents the motion of Earth against the motion
of Mars as seen from the actual motion of the Earth around the Sun
(thus infering heliocentricity ).

The third animation represents the motion of Mars plotted against the
background stars as seen from Earth. This is the representation Kepler's
used in isolating the motion of Mars while still retaining the
principles of infered heliocentricity.

Keplerian motion as a refinement of Copernican orbital motion still
refers back to the inferred orbital motion of the Earth (which in turn
infers heliocentricity) but at no time do the background stars or the
celestial sphere remain in the observed Keplerian motion of the
planets.Ole Roemer in following Kepler resolved the anomalous motion of
Io from the Earth's orbital motion against Jupiter orbital motion thus
retaining the same thinking of the first heliocentrists but that
insight is completely lost in a Newtonian speculative view that refers
the resolution of retrograde motion directly to a view centered on Sun.

Anyone who argues for Newton is shortcircuiting or arguing against an
incredible series of astronomical insights that are linked one to the
other by exquisite reasoning that reflects the highest intuitive
faculties of man in their power to soothe as much as their ability to
present the sheer scale and magnificense of our participation in the
motions of the Earth on its axis, around the Sun,around the Mily Way
axis and whatever other motions there may be.

There has never been a suggestion that it is difficult or that some
special intellectual attribute is required, for although it may be
initially difficult to impress heliocentric motion as we look out there
is always the rotation of the Earth in and out of its own orbital
shadow (day/night) to remind us that Copernicus isolated two
independent motions, axial and orbital with precession explaining
independent axial rotation and retrograde explaining orbital motion.

Rheticus

"With regard to the apparent motions of the Sun and Moon, it is perhaps
possible to deny what is said about the motion of the Earth, although I
do not see how the explanation of precession is to be transferred to
the sphere of the stars. But if anyone desires to look either to the
order and harmony of the system of the spheres, or to ease and elegance
and a complete explanation of the causes of the phenomena, by no other
hypotheses will he demonstrate more neatly and correctly the apparent
motions of the remaining planets. For all these phenomena appear to be
linked most nobly together, as by a golden chain; and each of the
planets, by its position and order and very inequality of its motion,
bears witness that the Earth moves. . . .
'" 1540, Narratio Prima

The great intuitive side of individuals from which all creative and
investigative insights emerge, and astronomy is no exception, requires
the some effort to comprehend the line of reasoning that eventually
emerges in spectacular stages of growing refinements such as
Copernicus- Kepler -Roemer but these things withered with the
introduction of guesswork replacing 'intuitive' .Anyone who follows the
reasoning of the first heliocentrists which place more emphasis of the
observed motions of the other planets from the motions of the Earth
rather than jumping to an idealised Sun observed view will take the
route of Newtonian disciples who imagine a piece of paper is more
profound than going outside and experiencing directly the motions of
the Earth.

The Newtonian view has led to a mediocrity that may be hard to shake
but I have no doubt that some people here have an inkling that there is
far more to astronomy than image collecting or a messenger service for
speculative theorists. With no other avenue availible it falls on those
who look out on the Universe for the love of it rather than those who
alone are paid to do it and whoes best interests remain elsewhere.

I am absolutely certain that there are people out there who can present
the reasoning of the great astronomers far better than I ever can by
using animations and graphics for it is an exercise in making the
heliocentric experience known to humanity again as opposed to claiming
anything. The astronomers have given much and asked for nothing but
neither should their works be directed to insincere ends and if anger
gives way to disappointment that the rogue smiles at his own
deviousness how fake is the smile and the silence when it is not so
difficult to recover the joy and excitement of the great sweep of
motions on their own terms, motions that make our short lives possible.
