Gravity Waves
A slight amendment needs to be added to this excerpted statement from the OP article: When large masses move through space, a disturbance is generated in the form of gravitational waves... The disturbance is generated if and *only* if the object's motion contains an acceleration component (such as with co-orbiting black holes, supernova explosions etc. Thus the statement would read: "When large masses move through space, and their motion contains an acceleration (or deceleration) component, a disturbance is generated in the form of gravitational waves..." |
