Spam stinks, but sorry chaps, I'm simply shocked that you all take a
private e-mail. From a fellow amateur & the provider of a free
astro-kit ads service so seriously. Had there been a grain of
commercialism then by all means cry foul. As loudly as you like! But
this chap is offering a free service that surely benefits us all. I
see nothing for sale except kit by other amateurs. No advertising
whatesoever except for the astro equipment ads themselves. No implied
message that might be construed as remotely commercial. The guy is
putting up a website at (what I presume is) his own expense. Not least
in time. Give him a break. Give me a break! g

thing (IMHO, of course). Did the guy bother to ask Chris H if he minded
if his resource was troffed for email addresses for targeted spam? (It
may well be that Chris doesn't mind.) Why, if he wanted to be open and
above board, did he not just place an ad on UKAstroAds advertising his
alternative site?

And I still haven't had an answer to the question I asked earlier, which
is what he hoped to gain by spamming by email people who would see his
ad in this NG.

One other thing: Someone has suggested that this is a "new site". It
isn't. It's been around for a couple of years -- it's been in my
bookmarks for about 18 months.

I agree with you . Chris has done a great job over the years and it was bad
form to contact his advertisers in that fasion.
