Surveyor crater seemed so much more vast from the surface pics.
Footpaths much more visible in this shot same with lm descent

Wow! That old Kodak film had a DR of 32(?), and still noting UV
reactive(?), and apparently the local surface albedo of 0.7 isn't
unusual(?).

I wonder if that have anything to do with the horizon being so much
closer on the Moon?

Indeed. The following famous image also shows foot traffic around
Surveyor 3's base, consistent with the LRO image.

Correct, and notice the near whiteout conditions of the surrounding
terrain. Is most of our supposedly colorless and nonreactive moon
albedo close to 0.7?
