NASA set to launch spacecraft to Pluto
"wbarwell" wrote in message ... Any problems with malnutrition was because of the inadequacy of the sanctions to deal with hunger, despite years of complaints from human rights and medical groups to the US and the UN over this exact issue. And, since said sanctions were in place because of Saddam's refusal to keep his word, the responsibility goes *right back to him*. The Iraqi people have no inherent right to trade with the US or any other nation- we were under no obligation to help them or even acknowledge them. Their plight was *Saddam's* fault, and no amount of apologizing for him will change that. If there was any moral failing involving sanctions, it was with those who willingly assisted Saddam, which includes the UN for refusing to enforce its resolutions. This explains a lot about why Russia, France and Germany did not support doing the right thing and fulfill the UN resolutions, since they had been trading with him, in clear violation of UN sanctions. Fortunately, the United States, Britain and a few other countries were willing to take over when the UN blew it. You may want to read up on this before further bloviations. |

NASA set to launch spacecraft to Pluto
"wbarwell" wrote in message ... Saddam never had a chance to touch a penny. That's because US troops found hundreds of thousand of dollars or more that he hid in various places around Baghdad. Stacks of US currency walled up and hidden in floors or even buried. http://www.slate.com/id/2091857 No, Saddam wasn't touching *pennies* because he had plenty of Benjamins to play with. |

NASA could better spend that money right here by helping make America abetter law abiding society.
The US govt should first clean up the problems here in America before it goes spending billions of dollars on Pluto. LOL Rand Simberg wrote: On Fri, 10 Feb 2006 20:01:18 -0600, in a place far, far away, wbarwell made the phosphor on my monitor glow in such a way as to indicate that: It doesn't include the people who were dying of disease and malnutrition because Saddam diverted Oil for Food money to palaces, weapons and bribes to UN Security Council members. That did not happen. Them money was held in banks and Saddam could not touch a penny. OK, you're nuts. You are incredibly ignorant. Iraq sent out oil, money was deposited in banks NOT IN IRAQ. Food and goods were sent in, and the money to pay for them came from the afformentioned banks. Saddam never had a chance to touch a penny. You are wrong and stupid too. Mostly stupid. Incurably it looks like. This is typical of a leftist. If you disagree with them, you're not just wrong, you're immoral. Have you read nothing about the "Oil for Food" scandal, and the UN and other officials who've had to resign over it? Or do you just think it all western imperialist lies? Here. Do a little reading. http://www.google.com/search?q=Oil+F...en-US:official |

If NASA spent the money any way other than authorized by Congress, it would be breaking the law. Do you advocate breaking the law in order to get others to abide by the law? |
