When The Earth Doesn't Turn

Am I wrong? -- The Starmaker -- To question the unquestionable, ask the unaskable, to think the unthinkable, mention the unmentionable, and challenge the unchallengeable. 100% wrong. The moon and Earth's mutual gravity slows their spin.Earth rate of spin at its equator is 1030 mph. Thus I estamate it will be 258 mph in about 258 million years Brert |

Tell us again why the Earth will eventually stop rotating... the moon is what makes the earth spin..when the moon moves away completely, the earth will stop...spinning. Am I wrong? -- Absolutely and most completely WRONG ! The Moon has very little to do with Earth rotation. It's slight effect is only to slow the rotation rate very slowly. When in the very far future, the Moon escapes Earth orbit, the Earth will continue to rotate. |

When The Earth Doesn't Turn
Research has found evidence for a 10 hour day for prehistoric earth. So in a few billion years the moon managed to slow earth from a 10 hour day to a 24 hour day. Took a long time, but it is not a "little bit". Please be specific about that "Research" and "evidence". |
