Yes, my neighbor has a cat, but it hasn't done me any good. Today I wrapped thread around a big piece of cheese to make it difficult for the mouse to pull the cheese away without tugging on the pan and tripping the trap. But somehow that clever mouse managed to get the cheese off the pan again deftly! I think through generations of encountering traps, mice must have greatly evolved the part of their brains enabling them to outsmart traps and thus continue to survive!

Had lunch with Kim today. She gave me some candles and incense. Something about traditional Korean house warming presents.

More classic cars outside the library tonight. I think I can see a classic car in my future. Who needs the modern inconveniences like tattle tale indicaters that tell you when you have to replace the catalytic converter! And I had to spend $500 to replace a computer chip on my Chrysler LeBaron one time! No such problems with a 57 Chevy!

A nice sunny day here in Gresham. 89F as of 6:30 PM, down from 93F a little while ago.

At first I felt a little lost, but then I came upon a spot I clearly remembered. It was where I had gone out there and watched a speech by then President Jimmy Carter in the late 70's. He was the first President I had seen in person! A helicopter brought him in, and Iranian students hiding their faces were demonstrating against the Shaw of Iran.

I finally found the lake that they made by damming up the local creek. I once drove a car across that dam! But if I were to try it now, I would run into a fence. I now must give up any hope of wetting a line in that trout stocked pond, as fishing is now limited to those under 17. Well, that's how I always thought it should be.

I found the basketball court with the dome shaped roof. It is a paraboloid shaped roof which gives an interesting echoic effect at its center. They have wisely covered much of the ceiling with acoustic tile.

There used to be tables and chairs on the east side where students could sit. But now it's all basketball floor. That's were I used to sit and talk with Greta and Susan in those pleasant times.

I went to the corner of Kane Dr. and Stark St. to look for the stone mile post marker for mile 14 from Portland. It was there back in 1969 when I checked. This were set down every mile along Stark about 150 years ago. Stark led to the Stark St. Ferry, which was the only way to cross the Willamette River back then, before they built the bridges in Portland. The Community College has put up a sign at that corner and surrounded it with rocks and other landscaping. But no sign of the historic mile stone. You would think that the administrators of a college of all people would have some respect for history!

The only beach aroung here is Rooster Rock, and the bus doesn't go there. As I have asked you elsewhere, can two black hole singularities be entangled?

Saw the mouse run across the floor this morning. Reset the trap with the cheese tied down real tied! Tried to set a second trap, but it wouldn't stay set, so I threw it away. I have a couple more.

Sunday morning here in Gresham. Churches are packed, even though the greater Portland area is said have the lowest church attendance in the nation.

As of 11:30 AM PDT it is only 68F under sunny skies. Expected high today 83F. But expected to get back into the high 90's by Tuesday!

No, most of the homeless people I knew were quiet. The noisy people were being cared for at government expense.

The Library is quiet today on this Sunday morning. Unfortunately this library does not have as many books as the Tigard Library. And they are less strict on noise control. At Tigard if your cell phone rang, they would pounce on you right away!

Currently 88F here in Gresham as of 4:45 PM. It could reach 100F here tomorrow!

They are worried about the wind switching to east a little unseasonally early and bringing a lot of smoke into Portland from the forest fires up the gorge!

I made another run to my locker. Left at 10:30 AM, back by 4:00 PM. It is a long way to go on the unreliable public transit system.
