With either a digital camera or a web camera you need to stack many uncompressed
images to get decent results. If you do 640x480 B&W, figure about 300K per
image, and you'd probably want to be able to collect at least 100 in an evening,
so yes, if you do it this way, you can probably work within the memory
limitations of a handheld.
