Default Mars rover Opportunity landing site

Wow It looks like a very different place then the other landing sites.
And it looks like bedrock just under the sand..

Very interesting, for a neophyte like me..

It's absolutely incredible.

They should actually be able to start doing stratigraphy, and be
taking the very first baby steps toward putting together a history of
the planet.
