A troll is someone who wants to start an argument / flame war simply for the
sake of the argument. They ask questions or make comments simply to provoke.

Others may debate an issue for a long time, earnestly disagreeing with each
other. But a troll just wants an argument or flame war.

A troll is a posted article in a Usenet newsgroup that is designed to
push people's emotional buttons and have them respond accordingly. The
more people that respond, the more successful the troll post. The troll
writer is a "troller," one who "trolls" or is "trolling." A troll is
NOT a person. The terms are borrowed from their fishing counterparts.

Sorry Linus, you're still living in the 20th century. A troll is now a
person or a message. Wake up and smell the Millennium

Hum, it is hard to tell the difference here between the trollers and the
trollees!

This entire posting was a troll. You have to love the irony of that!

It is more like trolling for fish than the Norwegian monster. They post
outlandish stuff hoping for a lot of hits on the thread. They also suck by
causing a lot of wasted message bytes....
