SETI causing sudden shutdowns.
This one's slightly weird. Recently I've been experiencing sudden
shutdowns of my machine as if the power has been pulled, yet the mouse, monitor etc all retain power normally. A little checking revealed that this only occurs just as a workunit completes, but not every time, just one in 10 or so. I'm processing using SETI Driver in tandem with SETI Spy. The temps are fine and stay below 50 degress, even during the heat spike at the start of a unit. I thought it might be some kind of thermal protection but anything of the kind is disabled in the BIOS. Anyone got any kind of ideas as to what's happening? Or how to get more info as nothing turns up in event manager or similar.

The problem is annoying inconsistent in that only some units cause it but the majority don't. I've followed a suggestion from Michael Bader that one the files might be corrupt so I've re-downloaded the lot, and I'll see if it re-occurs. If not the only other possibility is the PSU.

If you are using something like seti@home spy or any add-ons take them
off you PC and see if that helps any. And try to find another one that will do the same thing you are trying to do. It may be the add-on. I am sorry that I could not have been more help. If you are using something like seti@home spy or any add-ons take them
