"shadow mosaic" that "Life" put on the next issue's cover. See-BS even
ran a very hastily-assembled one-hour special the night after the
landing - of which I've got a copy in my collection *somewhere*, but
it's out in the garage with all the boxes from my move home, alas -
that took the ratings win for its time slot, but is more notable for a
panel of experts including one Tommy Gold. After showing the photo
sent back of Surveyor I's landing pad and how deep it *didn't* go,
even after the deliberate bounce, Tommy was allowed to reaffirm just
how much of a total ****tard he was by continuing to preach his "dust
bowls of doom" theory while the rest of the panel proceeded to
professionally and politely skewer him in front of millions of
viewers. If anyone ever wondered where an idiot like Brad Guth got his
inspiration from, they need to look no further than Tommy Gold.

hey heres a blackhole for $$$ lets dump more in theres always the
chance we might get a bit of science back......

NSA, CIA, MI6 and a few other agencies just get to print as much loot

I still win this debate if you can't show which one.
Since that would mean whether it's secret, classified or black
happens to be information that itself is secret, black or
classified.

You lose, despite your rather pathetic attempts at logic games.

Even though you cite the exact same Wiki quote I did to
make your point? Thank you for making my point for me~

You're not a 'math guy'. Where did you get your degree and what is
your specialty? You see, I *AM* a 'math guy' (among other things).

I await your reply with interest.

I enjoy these debates ya know!

Of course you do. Unfortunately for you, us sane people don't,
particularly.

I'm a proud Spartan from Michigan State University.
I spent four long years in their math department, which
at the time was considered one of the top ten math
depts in the country.

I'll simply note that your phrasing doesn't seem to indicate a degree
or even that it was your major. Merely that you took some math each
year for four years or perhaps just hung around the Math Department.

Oh, if you must, I have a math education degree. Go ahead, make fun
of lowly math teachers. But I can barely remember half of the..titles
of the various math classes, let alone all the detailed math.
Any honest person would admit much the same.

My hobby now is Complexity Science, that's what I know
now, and you might find it as interesting as I do if you
would bother to find out what it's about.

It's essentially the abstract version of the same Darwinian
evolution we all know and love. But the huge advance
is that once you place an evolutionary system in completely
abstract terms, you suddenly realize that model also
applies to non-living systems just as well. Physical systems
are merely much simpler versions of the same process of order.

Where calculus uses the integral as it's foundation, Chaos theory
used a cloud for it's template. A cloud is the dynamic attractor
which emerges from the critical interaction of it's static and
chaotic attractors components

static dynamic chaotic
condensation cloud evaporation

For living systems these attractors take the form of

static dynamic chaotic
genetic selection mutation
rule of law democracy freedom

even

matter light energy
gravity space-time cosmic expansion

Don't you see what this...means??? All order that exists, physical
or living can be modeled from the ultimate system abstraction of....

subcritical critically interacting supercritical

As in a cloud, an emotion or a galaxy. Even ideas

facts ideas imagination
static dynamic chaotic

Even for stock trading, which is my ...other hobby.
These concept make for an easy and rewarding
system for trading stocks. It shows you how to
quantify ...uncertainty (criticality). Uncertainty
equates to volatility, and only at the very highest
levels of volatility is where universal behavior emerges.

Now if you want proof, real world honest to god
proof that no one can deny, just a couple weeks ago
in sci.astro I publicly called two stock tickers, the
first one went up almost 50% the next two days, the
other 10% in the two days after I posted them.
I averaged roughly 2% per maket...hour return
with those two plays. And with less than a half
hour of DD on each.

I also publicly predicted the great stock market
crash the Friday before... and more importantly
it's magnitude. That sort of thing is proof of
concept. It's a GREAT concept.

You know, it's funny. They offered me a lot of money to go to
Michigan State. I went to the University of Colorado, instead.

My dad ran a major department at Michigan State, it's a great
campus, except for the winters though. LONG winters.

And I
actually got a degree in Mathematics (among several), so there's an
unequivocal statement of the sort that you failed to make.

Who cares, I only respond to the words in front of me, not
to who wrote them, their degrees, how well tanned they are
or any of the other things people use to impress others.

The rest is none of your business g Since I've remained
anonymous on the Internet since day one, so you're not
getting any proof of a degree. Why? Let's just say I have
a couple of perfectly good reasons to stay anonymous.

Yes, I bet you do. Well, YOU no doubt think they're 'good reasons',
anyway.

If I told you I'd have to kill you~

Now as to ..your claim to be a math guy.

I find that rather hard to believe.

I couldn't really give a **** what you do or do not find 'hard to
believe'.

You haven't shown
the slightest ability to understand the new math concepts
I keep going on about.

That's because 'going on' is what you keep doing.

I'm simply running with them to their logical conclusions.

As a test of your math abilities,

Get back to me when you're in a position to ask me for proof of
ANYTHING or test me about ANYTHING.

please answer this
math question concerning one of the most /famous/
and /basic/ concepts of all.

Show me the equation for the very first step in deriving
Einstein's famous E = MCv2? The first step only please!

I await your reply with interest!

That's physics, not math. Start from the momentum of a photon in
terms of E(nergy).

Well anyway, if your into math, why not talk about it?
The proof of E = MC v 2 is a great proof. A wonderful
example of clear thinking. Here's the key points.

Force equals mass times acceleration

F = MA

The work done on a body equals the force integrated
over the distance it moves from xo to x1.

W = | Fdx (from xo to x1)

That work turns into the body's kinentic energy

K = | Fdx

But force changes momentum

F = dp/dt

Substituting

K = | (dp/dt) dx

Then

K = | (dx/dt) dp

But

dx/dt = v

So

K = | vdp

And momentum P depends on mass

P = Mv

Which also changes with speed
If the Lorentz factor is 1/(1 - v2/c2) ^1/2

Then

P = Mo v/(1 - v2/c2) ^ 1/2

Gives

dp/dv = Mo/(1 - v2/c2) ^ 3/2

Then

dp = Mo/(1 - v2/c2) ^ 3/2 dv

So Kinetic Energy may be expressed as an integral
over changing speed, from rest until the force stops
pushing.

K = | Mo v /(1 - v2/c2) ^3/2 dv

Anti-differentiating gives

K = Mo c^2/ (1 - v2/c2) ^1/2
(from zero to one)

K = Mo c^2/(1 - v2/c2) ^ 1/2 - Mo c^2/(1 - 0^2/c2)^1//2

K = Mo c^2/(1 - v2/c2)^1/2 - Mo c^2

At low speeds

K = 1/2 Mv^2

But at high speeds, the curve for increasing energy begins
to look just like the curve for increasing mass.

K = Mo (1/(1 - v2/c2)^1/2 c2 - Mo c^2

Since the Lorentz factor is

1/(1 - v2/c2)^1/2

Then

K = Mo 1/(1 - v2/c2)^1/2 c^2 - Mo c^2

At rest

Mo = M

So

K = Mc^2 - Mo^2

At any speed the kinetic energy is equal to the
change in mass times c^2.

K = ( M - Mo) c^2 is the kiinetic energy at any speed

Since Mo is the mass of the quantity as rest, then

Eo = Mo c^2 Is called the rest-mass energy

Adding the kinetic energy to the rest-mass energy
gives the ...total energy of the body.

K = (M - Mo) c^2

+ Eo = Mo c^2
--------------------

= E = M c^2

You want honesty? 'Math Education' was where Math majors who couldn't

the way.
