Actually it would be. Do you think "society" as you understand it, with
universally respected laws, taxation, not to mention social services, will
survive the loss of most of its bodies? Complex society *needs* lots of people
to sustain it. A return to warlords and feudalism might be the *best* possible
outcome.

Each of those three million people have about 16 empty houses
they can loot furniture from. Think of it as a particularly nasty
bonfire night.

Given what furniture is made of, that's not going to be something I'd
recommend to be getting up to. That is if they have old furniture. Burning
