Hi Holly, There is actually a third way, which is to use a hydrogen alpha filter. One of the best companies making these today is Coronado. I had without question the most fantastic views I've ever seen of the sun though one of these. http://www.coronadofilters.com/ Dang well those words on that page were so small i could hardly not read them bit i will say those scopes look cool but i doubt if i could afford to buy one. I been reading some of the things here that people say and i think i better not even try messing with the sun becuase i dont know what im doing but if i ever get some xtra $$$ ill get me one of them filters.
