Seems to me, this is a little loose about basics, but I recall
something I saw at an MIT Fleamarket last summer. It was
several examples of a sort of inverse thermos bottle. The
outside was clear; the inside tube blackened. The result, a
thing you could set out in the sun and it would boil water.
Thus, you could cook in it.
