Perseid Meteor Shower
Well, just on a long shot, I got up about 4am, and again about 5:45am, and
went outside to try to see any stragglers in the Perseid meteor shower. Of course, visibility was something like being inside half a ping-pong ball. The only thing really visible was the unblinking red eye of Mars, balefully glaring down. |

Maybe you got up early on the wrong day? I got up at 0400 California time on August 12. My daughter and I sat in our hot tub under a relatively clear sky and watched about a dozen meteors shooting across the sky. I saw several a little after midnight on August 12, as well. It was a great night! I'm sure the viewing was better elsewhere, but it was my daughter's first meteor viewing; she loved it! |
