Ahhh that summer of 1969.

How sad that he is gone. Gone without being able to see that we will
return to that magic place again. That we will go on beyond that place
to see what lies beyond, always, what lies beyond.

....Clearly a bad week for Armstrong's.

....One more person who didn't want to live to see the Top Gun sequel made.

....I guess people will finally stop bugging him for his autograph.

....Aldrin: "Great, now Neil's going to beat me in getting his ashes sent there."

(Ok, too soon.)

Another one of those twelve men, who walked on the moon, has pased away.
I have feared this day, as well as I knew it will come.
One day, no one will be able to tell us, how it feels to walk on the moon.

How many of them are still alive? Eight?

That's right. We've lost Jim Irwin, Al Shepard, Pete Conrad and now Neil.

Wife and I were partying at the Fl. panhandle, and decided to do up
to the Pensicola NAS there. I dressed in boxer shorts with pink hearts
on them. She wore a bathing suit with a t-shirt.
All the regular Naval Aviators are dressed sparkling formal white.
SO Neil's there and I figured on going out the back door.
Bumped into Wally Shira and decided to chat using the autograph
excuse, judging from his crooked smile, (not to mention I smelled
like a still), I think I lightened up his boring afternoon.

About Neil though, that's a pilot with a body wrapped around it,
a flesh and bone calculator. Being human seemed like a chore.

niel did a excellent job as a pilot and astronaut, but lacked the
dynamic personality needed to help push for mars

I bet nasa management later regreted their decision to choose him as
first man on the moon.........

I'd bet they didn't, as if someone else had been in charge what we'd
have had was "first manned smoking hole on the Moon".

The astronauts were mostly combat experienced, and any of them could
of anded safely or aborted, to try again......
