ASTRO: Shuttle Plume
APOD's picture of the day
http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/ap070612.html shows a very odd plume from the last launch. Another version is at: http://local.wasp.uwa.edu.au/~pbourk...ov/shuttle.jpg A friend of mine sent me this photo of the plume. But being a planetarium director he had to get some astronomy in it. He waited until the plume drifted over by Venus before taking his shot of the plume. It's hand held so a bit shaky. Photo by Jack Dunn, Director of the Mueller Planetarium (http://www.spacelaser.com/)at the University of Nebraska. I have no other details. Rick -- Correct domain name is arvig and it is net not com. Prefix is correct. Third character is a zero rather than a capital "Oh". |
