Do you know what 'porosity' means? How is a 'porous' material
different from a material with gaps?

And do you know what "crack" is.

Yeah. Crack is that stuff you must be smoking.

Do you know that a crack is a failure
mode for such materials while porosity is part of the material's
specifications.

Go look up the definition of 'porous' again.

Again, the argument was that LOX penetrated the composite wrap via
cracks. This is what I debated against.

Again, you're the only one going on and on about 'cracks', so you are
apparently so 'cracked' that you've been 'debating' yourself all this
time.

Do you agree that without a liner, the tank would not leak like a sieve,
but just leak through porosity of the composite material ?

No, I do not agree.

So how come people can make carbon fiber tanks that can contain liquids
or gas at pressure ?

Because those liquids and gasses are not helium at 10,000 PSI.

Just because a material allows molecules through due to porosity does
not mean that it cannot contain a pressure for a certain amount of time.

It does in the case of COPVs in general and in the case of the COPVs
were are specifically talking about in particular.

In the case of extremely high pressure for helium it may be that the
leak rate would be too high (especially since it is inside the LOX
tank). But it is not a generalized statement that carbon fibvre cannot
be a tank without liner. And not a generalized statement that it leaks
like a sieve.

No one has made any such "generalized statement" except for your claim
of one right now.

And rememebr, LOX tank spends the vast majority of its time
unpressurized even once filled.

Sure it does. That's why they have a pressure release vent; because
the tank is unpressurized.

During this time, any LOX in the tank
would not be "pushed" through the resin that covers the top surface of
the wrapping. (and the failure happened at a time prior to the LOX tank
starting pressurization).

Go watch the video again, yammerhead. See the white cloud coming out
of the second stage oxygen tank? Do you know what that means?

Hint: Pressure.

Again, if you think all composite structures are laminates you don't

So you are starting to shift your position and starting to admit that
atr least come composites are laminates now ? Did your mother bring you
a dictionary in your basement ?

I'm not shifting anything, you ignorant illiterate ****. We are
talking about a specific COPV. THERE IS NO LAMINATION. Pull your
head out of your ass and read what people write rather than listening
to whatever voices you hear in your head.

Any composite (carbon, glass or kevlar fibre) can have delamination
problem because very few objects contain only one layer of material.
This is especially true of "surface" materials (large but thin) where
there is pressure cycles or torque (or a baggage truck hitting wall of
aircraft).

Again, you don't appear to have a clue what 'lamination' means and is.
No, any composite can NOT have 'delamination problem' because they
aren't all laminated structures (the COPV under discussion is not, for
example).

Another example: insufficent amount of resin (or air gap) between 2
laters of fibres can make it easy for separation between those 2 layers
to happen - delamination.

sigh Go look up lamination - AGAIN.

The things you argue about here say that you are an ignorant **** who
is wasting everyone's time. I don't claim to "know all about carbon
composites".

You claimed to know enough to state categorically that lamination is
never associated with composites.

I said no such thing, you illiterate lying little sack of ****.

(although in your last post, you seem
to backtrack, as Findley backtracked in his "crack" with last post going
for "microscopic cracks".

You need to go back and reread this entire thread. I'm not
responsible for what the voices in your head tell you.

I just claim to know a lot more than you.

Has as much credibility when one considers your lack of professionalism

If you want professional treatment, you need to do a number of things:

1) Read what people write.
2) Ignore the voices in your head and read what people write.
3) If you don't understand what people write, ask them to explain
rather than arguing with them based on what the voices in your head
have said.
4) If you want to argue, rent a ****ing clue and have someone explain
to you what it's for. Argue with what others say, not what the voices
in your head have told you.

If you misuse 'big words' in order to sound smarter, people who know
what they're talking about are going to treat you with derision. If
you constantly get facts wrong, people who know what they're talking
about are going to treat you with derision.

And lastly, PULL YOUR HEAD OUT OF YOUR ASS.

as my claiming to be Elvis.

You could very well be Elvis. You are apparently dead from the neck
up at the very least.
