Informal Poll
Hi all,
An informal poll, For those of you who participate in sidewalk sessions at public places, who also enjoys also looking at DSO's from dark sites? Would you be interested in an annual star party, only for astronomers (amateur and/or professional) and their families, where events in the afternoons are about sidewalk sessions, and the nights are for DSO's under a 7.2 LM sky? Location to be detailed later, if there is enough interest. Thanks. |

7.2 sky? That's no place near where I live and that means it's way past my
driving range. If I can get my car in good shape, then I just might be able to get to RTMC this year, but it's a big IF right now. -- The Forgotten http://home.inreach.com/starlord/forgotten.htm SIAR www.starlords.org Telescope Buyers FAQ http://home.inreach.com/starlord Car Fund Page Update http://www.bishopcarfund.netfirms.com/ "goldtiel" wrote in message ... There are many annual star parties all around the world. Your best bet is
to find one or more in your area and visit them first. If you want to establish a new one in whatever area you are, just set it up, announce the location and date and people that are interested will come. You can get free listings of your event in Sky and telescope and Astronomy magazines. George D "goldtiel" wrote in message ... Don't talk to me about the Milky Way! A chap can't get properly dark
adapted with that damn thing blazing down all night! There's no escape either since it covers half the sky in a blinding arc! It's a real headache hiding from it unless you have a proper dome to partially shield your eyes! Even a black eye patch doesn't help when the light floods in through the slit. I thought I'd try a black cloth shutter with a single hole to poke the refractor dewshield out. But you still have to see where the damn scope is pointing and you certainly wouldn't want it pointing straight at the Milky Way by accident! I'm going to have another look at improving the baffling and perhaps flock the inside of te OTA. The damned Milky Way is flooding my 6" with stray light! I might even have to try one of Rich A's filters. Used full aperture! Chris.B |
