Death of an archaeologist
http://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-34036644
There is no doubt that some people can live with themselves in standing by and watch the attempted destruction of a heritage without exhibiting any courage while others act to preserve these treasures of human achievement for future generations. Unlike the ancient monuments, the astronomical insights can be recovered from unfortunate distortions that entered this heritage through poor reasoning. The resolution for the Earth's orbital motion by watching the outer planets temporarily fall behind in view remains the original insight which introduced the conception of the Earth's motion and position within the solar system so there is no need to blow it up by adopting a false view of the observation - "For to the earth planetary motions appear sometimes direct, sometimes stationary, nay, and sometimes retrograde. But from the sun they are always seen direct,..." Newton There may not be enough civilized men with intelligence and courage to recognize that the observed motions of the outer planets are within the normal perception of motion much like a slower moving car in an outer lane falling behind in view as a faster moving car overtakes it as the Earth overtakes Jupiter and Saturn in the actual imaging seen here - http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/image/0112/JuSa2000_tezel.gif This is not a condemnation, it was a bad ideology that entered astronomy in the late 17th century due to unresolved issues at the origins of heliocentricity in the 16th century when the antecedent geocentric framework for observations would not satisfy the framework for the Earth's motions and solar system structure. It is not a matter of 'Newton being wrong', it is a matter of whether men can live with themselves after reviewing the time lapse footage of the Earth overtaking the outer planets and accepting that this alone satisfies observations rather than conjuring up a contrived solution. That 82 year old archaeologist died rather than give the thugs the ancient treasures, observers here can't even show what the astronomical treasures are let alone watching them destroyed for poor reasoning and even a poorer agenda. |

These sub-humans are what the atomic bomb was made to be used on.

So RichA, How many times doe the Earth turn within the same period causing the Sun to rise and set against the local horizon each day ?. As you will not respond,I will show you a fundamentalist thug with no respect for astronomical history and far worse than the Middle Eastern thugs who beheaded that archaeologist and took dynamite to that ancient temple. |

As you will not respond,I will show you a fundamentalist thug with no respect for astronomical history and far worse than the Middle Eastern thugs who beheaded that archaeologist and took dynamite to that ancient temple. Only the Nazis talked about 'subhuman' (untermensch) because they themselves had adopted the empiricist policy of superiority/inferiority - "At some future period, not very distant as measured by centuries, the civilised races of man will almost certainly exterminate and replace throughout the world the savage races. At the same time the anthropomorphous apes, as Professor Schaaffhausen has remarked, will no doubt be exterminated. The break will then be rendered wider, for it will intervene between man in a more civilised state as we may hope, than the Caucasian and some ape as low as a baboon, instead of as at present between the negro or Australian and the gorilla." Darwin That is what an academic fundamentalist looks like and the fact that it is celebrated today as an 'achievement' demonstrates how ingrained the destructive empirical cult ideologies are. You won't answer the question which is the most basic fact known to all humans because your cult demands that you believe 1465 rotations in 1461 days. |

Sarin or tabun would be the WMD of choice to use against ISIS if chemical warfare wasn't banned by international convention. Churchill sanctioned the British army to use mustard gas against them in the 1920's as he put it "with excellent moral effect". http://www.theguardian.com/world/2003/apr/19/iraq.arts -- Regards, Martin Brown |

Would that there were a million drones to be used. We don't need a million drones. We need an intelligent, directed response. We need to treat this as a law enforcement problem more than a military one. (And for the most part, somebody else's law enforcement problem.) |

Death of an archaeologist
How many minds are destroyed to preserve an iconic figure from the late 17th century who represented intellectual thuggery at the expense of the ancient discipline of astronomy.
"During one orbit around the Sun, Earth rotates about its own axis 366.26 times" Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Earth This great planet and its diversity in so many ways yet here, right in the middle of it all, thugs control the flow of information that posits 1465 rotations inside 4 orbital circuits. In two decades I have yet to see a single act of bravery where every single known fact linking planetary dynamics to terrestrial sciences or solar system structure is defaced in the most open way. These thugs do not know when to stop for while the unsuspecting wider world may imagine great minds are acting in their best interest, these wretched people are creating worse fiction to undo the damage caused by other fiction imposed on observations. Not content to make up a 'solar vs sidereal' fiction to satisfy their need to link the Earth's rotation directly to circumpolar motion - http://hypertextbook.com/facts/1999/JennyChen.shtml They now have blown this fiction up to create a non cyclical fiction in order to satisfy a disruptive need to detach timekeeping from cyclical dynamics even though that detachment was always there - "At the time of the dinosaurs, Earth completed one rotation in about 23 hours," says MacMillan, who is a member of the VLBI team at NASA Goddard. "In the year 1820, a rotation took exactly 24 hours, or 86,400 standard seconds.. Since 1820, the mean solar day has increased by about 2.5 milliseconds." NASA http://www.nasa.gov/topics/solarsyst...ra-second.html They say they will make a decision in November whether to blow up the 'solar vs sidereal' fiction and adopt the new fiction despite the stability of the astronomical narrative which fits the 24 hour system and Lat/Long system inside the calendar framework. In full view of every reader here they will do this because thugs know that the only opposition out there is in here in this forum. People can live with themselves, no use in saying otherwise but what a price they must pay for that cowardly silence. |
