The southern edge of the aurora should be visible in the middle USA-- Above the Winter Weather

The arrival of the shock from the last solar flare was 12 hours behind our
estimate, so the high auroral activity is occurring over Russia right now
(8pm GMT) It will probably continue for another 12 hours so we expect high
auroral activity tonight, Jan 21. The southern edge of the aurora should be
visible from England, Northern Europe, and middle USA.

Thank you for posting the link to the solar wind forecast simulation.
Having read the underlying paper at the website, I am not following
what the forecast simulation represents and whether it might be used by
amateur observers to predict likely arrival times for CMEs.

If you have some time in the future, you would consider posting a brief
explanation of the display?
