Dichroic beamsplitters and multiband CCD photometry
The Sloan/SDSS filter passbands are approximately disjoint.
This offers (in theory) the opportunity of imaging in several of the bands simultaneously, via dichroic beamsplitting. (One could do the same in the non-disjoint Johnson/Cousins passbands by accepting a two-way split betwen disjoint pairs, i.e. between B and R or V and I.) ANDICAM is an example of simultaneous multi-band imaging, doing a two-way split between the IR and "visible". If you have experience with splitting within the visible, particularly using the Sloan passbands, I would be interested in hearing about your approach and results.
