Default Wooden Tripod Legs?

Hello All,

I'm in the hunt for a nice set of wooden tripod legs for this alt-az head:
http://home.tir.com/~ccb3/cartonta/id1.html

I've been snooping through the Berlebach, KB Systems, Al's Astro sites
trying to weigh my options. Any other sources I should be considering?
What advise do you have based on your experience?

Thanks,
Ed

Hi,

I have a Berlebach wooden tripod with Vixen-compatible head. I use it with
my Vixen Super Polaris GEM and C8 OTA when travelling. Very nice indeed.

I made my own replacement wooden legs for a telescope tripod. I cut a slot
down the inner piece which was held in place by guiding bolts passing
through the two outer pieces to allow for a sliding extension. A lesson
learned was to use stain instead of paint if you have sliding extensions as
paint has too much 'grab' even after a few days of drying.
