Default M91 - Galaxy in Coma Berenices

The Messier Ten Minute Challenge

M91 - Galaxy in Coma Berenices

Messier 91 (NGC 4548) is the faintest object in Messier's catalog. It
is an attractive barred spiral galaxy and a member of the Virgo
Cluster. The bar is very conspicuous, lying at position angle of 65
degrees and the galaxy has a recession velocity of only about 400 km/
sec - well below the average for the Virgo cluster which is 1100 km/
sec.
